In this week’s Content Creator’s Corner, we chat with one of our resident streamers, MegaGaming!
To start off nice and easy, who are you? And where can people find you and what do you typically play? Do you stream/create YouTube videos etc. Tell me about your channel!
I’m a husband, father, gaming nerd, and lover of all things science. Most people know me as Megna and I’m a full-time partnered broadcaster over on twitch.tv/megnagaming. I’m a variety caster that typically plays Survival-Crafting, Horror, & Indie Games but also do developer Q&A’s from time to time.
How did you get into creating content? Was there a particular streamer/content creator that inspired you?
I found Twitch back in late 2013 while trying to learn more about a game I was absolutely in love with (Kerbal Space Program). They ran a broadcast channel (KSPTV) and I was super excited to see there was a real live human being I could interact with and ask questions. From there I ended up finding more and more broadcasters that were entertaining and educational and I fell in love with Twitch. I absolutely love the interaction and community that Twitch fosters and I wanted to add to that through developing my own channel, brand, and content.
How often do you stream/upload videos? What time and how long for, what do you typically play/upload?
You can usually find me live Monday to Saturday starting at 6PM EST (11PM GMT). Casts usually last for 7 hours but it can vary depending the day.
What was your first gaming experience you remember?
I remember the family getting together and buying me a Gameboy when they first came out – I took that thing everywhere with me!
What is your favourite game of all time?
This is a tough one – I think I have to go with ARK: Survival Evolved
What upcoming games are you most looking forward to?
Would have to say Dead by Daylight, Alison Road, Visage, & No Man’s Sky
If you could be any video game character, who would you be and why?
I would have to say Agent 47 from Hitman – That guy gets to do some of the craziest stuff ever.
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Bruce Willis – because why not.
Have you ever considered any other types of creating content? If so, what types or what things would you like to try?
Not really except for live streaming some more cooking shows. I don’t have the patience to deal with post-production stuff so definitely sticking with live broadcasts.
What was the strangest/funniest interaction you had while streaming?
While playing a random pub of KF2 some dude asked me to pay for his internet
Are there any streamers/YouTubers you would suggest watching?
Yes! Anyone over on Twitch.tv/Team/ArchetypeGaming
What advice would you give to anyone looking to start either streaming or creating a YouTube channel?
First determine if you want to do it as a hobby or a business, network like crazy (don’t self-promote), have fun, be genuine and consistent, schedule.
Lastly, Peanut Butter or Nutella?
I mean… why not both? I’m definitely going to try this on a sandwich now.
